I found this link to a concert that I did back in 1996 on tour with the late and GREAT Lester Bowie and Brass Fantasy. I must thank hornist Vincent Chancey for this wonderful find. That is Vincent blowing a mean solo on Sade's "Smooth Operator". I believe that it was the Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy.

God and Country
God and Country, directed by Daniel Piatt has won the Best Short film at the 2008 GI Festival. View trailer.

Deadly Sins
Deadly Sins score is now complete.

Q is for Quadrunner score is now complete. View trailer.

Nine Lives
Nine Lives screened at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood on October 16th, 2007. This is a film that I really enjoyed doing with director Dean Howell who did a masterful job with it. Lives has won many awards on the Gay and Lesbian festival circuit and has screened all over the world for the past 2 years. I wrote a couple of supplemental cues for Nine Lives. Originally I was brought on as the sound designer|re-recording mixer but I was asked to squeeze out a few original cues for the film on short notice. You can hear them on the music page. Check it out. You won't be disappointed!!!! Nine Lives postcard:

Becoming John Ford

Becoming John Ford screened to a packed house at the Venice Film Festival (Biennale Cinema) in Italy on September 8th, 2007. I did the sound design for the opening title as well as the closing credits for this FOX documentary. It was directed by Nick Redman.

Transgressions directed by Valerie Weiss as well as A Decent Proposal screened in Russia this summer at the 2007 OPEN CINEMA film festival in St. Petersburg. Proposal is a 3 minute short that I co-scored this past spring.

Transgressions won best Sci-Fi short at the Show Off Your Short Festival at Raleigh Studios in Los Angeles, grand prize winner at the Seattle Sci-Fi Short Film Festival, second place in the BAFTA/LA student film awards and screened at the LA Shorts Film Festival Friday, September 8, 2006. Here is a recent article about Trangressions.

Transgressions had a fabulous mix on the WISE mixing stage by Jim Bolt on the FOX lot on January 5th, 2006. Ron did the sound design for director Valerie Weiss who is one of eight women chosen by AFI to participate in the Directing Workshop for Women, where the eight women direct their own short films. Ron scored Weiss's PHD Productions logo, for PHD productions, which will be featured just before the film. Transgressions screened at AFI on February 2nd to two standing room only crowds and will screen again.

It has a real shocker ending!!!! Transgressions postcard.

Ron has completed scoring Italian director Omar Pesenti's festival winning short film Frattura. Frattura has just won the Reign of Horror short film festival award in Italy.

Frattura is a Vampire-Love Story-Thriller with a dark comedy twist set in 2007. Ron went for a deep dark low brassy score featuring one of his favorite brass instruments, the French Horn. It's an orchestral score paying hommage to Bernard Herrmann complete with lots of brooding low strings, muted trumpets and of course low brass. Mr. Pesenti is based in the Italian town of Bergamo. Frattura press kit (in Italian).

Reviews of Frattura (in Italian) . Kinemazone, Splattercontainer, Cinemavvenire.

Run for the Wall directed by Randall Wilson

The Long Ride Home: Run for the Wall is now out on DVD.

NEWS! DIGITAL PERFORMER DEMONSTRATION AT THE APPLE STORE!
The DP demonstration was a SUCCESS.

Ron demonstrated how he uses Digital Performer to score to picture to a full house. He explained his approach to attacking a film scoring project from beginning to end. This included spotting the cues, creating the cues, recording the cues then delivering the cues to the editor.

He showed how he collaborates across the Atlantic Ocean with his guitar player, Jeff Hoffman, who lives in Paris. A special guest horn player, Bob McClure, dropped in to play a few live french horn parts in front of the Apple crowd.
